The Painful Pursuit of Accountability in Uvalde

From Newsweek | Opinion Analysis by Mark Davis, Host, The Mark Davis Show

In the horrible immediate aftermath of the Robb Elementary School massacre in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, there seemed to be no reason to avoid the familiar narrative of gratitude for law enforcement. It has long been a reliable conclusion that as bad as some tragedies can be, we can at least offer praise for first responders, whose devotion to their duty often prevents even worse results.

It is the job of investigators to devote the proper time and attention before reaching firm conclusions about what happened. As those wheels turn slowly, the rest of us are left to wrap our heads and hearts around this ever-worsening story in an attempt to determine a reasonable reaction.
