Star Wars fans don’t have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to experience the franchise’s alien worlds. There are plenty of Star Wars filming locations right here on Earth waiting to be explored. While CGI and new virtual technology has inevitably played a large role in creating the fantastical sets, particularly in more recent stories like The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi, the filmmakers found plenty of otherworldly landscapes to stand in for the different planets in the fictional universe. The latest addition to the franchise, Andor, was primarily filmed in England, both on soundstages and on transformed real-world locations in places like Buckinghamshire and Dorset. The series plays on a long history of Star Wars productions traveling to far-off destinations to imagine fantastical planets.
